YOUR WEDDING
AT
PILGRIM CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH

It is the aim of the ministers and staff of this church to make every wedding as full of meaning and beauty as possible. It is to further this aim that the following arrangements are made in order that your wedding may be conducted in a dignified, religious manner.
DATE AND TIME
Set the date for your wedding with the church office as far in advance as possible. Since our sanctuary and other rooms are often in use and serve many purposes, be sure that you clear the date and hour with us before making other arrangements.
PLACE
Weddings are customarily performed in the sanctuary. A fine pipe organ provides music. Dressing rooms for the bride's party and for the groom are conveniently located.

INTERVIEW
Our Wedding Director will complete reservations and other arrangements. She is familiar with correct procedure and will guide you through your rehearsal and wedding. You need to meet the Wedding Director at least four weeks in advance.
The ministers of this church expect you to make an appointment for counseling. It is suggested that this appointment be made with the church office several weeks prior to the ceremony. The ministers want to know you personally and wish to share some of their experiences concerning Christian ideas of marriage.
Because weddings at Pilgrim Church are considered a solemn and social event, care is taken by the Minister, the Organist and the Wedding Director to coordinate the aspects of the service. Our staff ministers are to be the principal celebrants of the wedding. Visiting ministers may assist at the invitation of the church ministers.
REHEARSAL
Time for your rehearsal is arranged by the Wedding Director for your mutual convenience. The rehearsal should be attended by the bride and groom, the parents, the attendants and the ushers. Please be as punctual for the rehearsal as for the wedding.
Bring the wedding license at the time of the rehearsal.
FLOWERS
Any floral arrangements for the church and the selection of a florist are the responsibility of the bride and her family. The Wedding Director can be of help in showing pictures of floral decorations. Flower girls cannot strew flower petals on the aisle. No greenery may be placed on the church aisle's ribbons and bows.
Candles and/or candelabra may not be brought in for use in the church. Sixty candles are provided by the church for sanctuary weddings. Couples are welcome to bring their own unity candles or use our use of unity candelabra.
MUSIC
At Pilgrim Congregational Church a wedding is a sacred ceremony. It is therefore necessary for the music included to maintain the import and dignity of the occasion.
Listed in the appendix are some recommended appropriate selections for solos, processionals and recessionals. If you wish to include other pieces of your own choice, you must submit copy to church Organist for approval at least 30 days prior to ceremony. You will be subsequently notified as to the appropriateness of your selection(s) in regard to text and suitability for organ accompaniment.
Pilgrim Church is able to offer professional singers for your ceremony. The church retains soloists who are prepared to perform any of the literature listed in the appendix of this brochure. Please call the Organist if you desire further information.
Note: If you intend to include non-Pilgrim Church performers, they must personally contact the Organist at least 2 weeks prior to the wedding to arrange a music rehearsal. In addition, all performers should arrive at least one hour early on the day of the ceremony to rehearse.
Pilgrim Church will provide the following equipment upon your request:
1) organ
2) grand piano
3) 2 microphones
4) music stands
5) chairs
UNACCEPTABLE EQUIPMENT
1) amplified instruments (except acoustic guitar)
2) amplifiers
3) drums
4) pre-recorded music
Important: Participants in your wedding party should be properly dressed so as not to detract from the dignity of the ceremony. This includes solo performers, accompanists, and still and video photographers.
RECEPTION
Receptions are held at Pilgrim Church. The church policy is that non-alcoholic beverages only may be served on the premises, and no smoking is permitted in our building. Receptions are arranged individually in consultation with the Reception Hostess.
PHOTOGRAPHS
Because we wish the services to be reverent and dignified, flash photographs are not to be taken while the ceremony is in progress - only time exposures. Photographers are to refrain from taking pictures of the processional except from the narthex. No moving pictures may be taken during the ceremony. Video cameras must be stationary. The camera person is not allowed to move from one side of the church to the other. Please advise your guests that flash cameras are not allowed during the ceremony.
ADDITIONAL ITEMS OF INFORMATION
The church will not allow rice or birdseed to be thrown in the sanctuary or outside of our buildings. Because of the scheduling difficulties. and custodial duties, no receiving lines are allowed at ceremonies held at the church. Receiving lines are proper for the reception celebrations.
SERVICE CHARGES
The service charge for a wedding at Pilgrim Church is $1,100. This charge includes the cost of the Minister, Organist, Wedding Director, custodians, candles, white runner, kneeling bench, ribbons, organ and utilities which can include air conditioning. The church is reserved for a total of two hours on the day of your wedding. Should more time be required, an additional fee will be charged. (This does not include the cost of vocalist or non-church staff accompanists). Fee for the church's soloist is $100. There is a $25 fee for extra rehearsal with the organist.
A deposit of $500 is necessary to reserve the date. The check should be made payable to "Pilgrim Congregational Church". The deposit is refundable up to ninety days prior to the wedding date. The remainder ($600) is to be paid one month in advance of the wedding.
Pilgrim Church is not responsible for anything left in the rooms or for the safe-keeping of wedding gifts.
