YOUTH & CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

Welcome to the Pilgrim Congregational Church Youth Group! We have exciting programs for High School, Junior High, and Elementary School aged youngsters. In all of our youth programs, Pilgrim is a volunteer driven church, with involvement from parents and church members working along side Matt, the youth minister. These volunteers are committed to helping today's youth, and share a passion for service and sharing God's love. Scroll down to check out the individual ministries, and even find out more about Matt!

Pilgrim Fellowship - The High School Group

Pilgrim Congregational Church High School Group meets every Sunday from 10:15-11:15 in the youth room, upstairs. During high school group we talk about what is going on in our lives, and learn from God's word. Currently, the high school group has been going through the book of Acts. We have been talking about Paul and the early church, and the importance of the identity that they established in their personal lives, community, and world. As a group, we desire to have our identity firmly rooted in Christ as well, as we follow him along the way. But High School Group doesn't stop on Sunday morning's. We usually do 2-3 events a month as well, from fund raisers, to service projects, to game nights. There is always stuff going on in the Pilgrim Youth Group! If you want to know what is coming up in the high school group, then check out the youth calendar. If you have any questions about the group, feel free to give Matt a call anytime.

 YCF - Junior High Group

Junior High is hands down one of the most exciting and important times of development for students. Pilgrim wants to be there for these students by offering them an amazing set of Junior High only activities. Check the youth calendar to see when Junior High events will crop up, most of them will occur Sundays after Church and will range from bowling, to lunch, to Bible Study. Also, on the third Friday of every other month, Pilgrim hosts hands down the most exciting, action packed, and crazy two hours of games anywhere in the Inland Valley. These are our The Junior High Night events. The games are messy, the competition is fierce, and the Bible lesson is specially tailored just for Junior High Students. Best of all, it's totally free! You don't want to miss out on these. Check the calendar for dates, or as always, give Matt a call any time.

Christian Education - Children's Ministry

Pilgrim Congregational Church is the place for Children! With a skilled roster of Sunday School teachers, many with experience as teachers or school administrators, the Children of Pilgrim learn and grow up knowing the love Christ has for them, and their role in the Kingdom of God. All children start off Sunday morning with their parents in church, and after a few songs and a special children's message just for them, they are dismissed into their Sunday School classes. Parents can stay behind in Church, or go with them and check out the classes. If you are looking for a caring Sunday School environment led by passionate and loving Sunday School staff, then look no farther. Sunday School is offered for children of all ages, from nursery to 6th grade.

 Matt - The Youth Minister

While largely a mystery and enigma to all, Matt the Youth Minister (also known as the one writing all of this) came to Pilgrim last September. Since third person is just awkward at this point, I'll jump into first to explain a little bit more about me. I am a graduate of Hope International University, with degrees in Youth Ministry and Psychology. I have been working with youth in ministry for almost 7 years now, starting off volunteering working with junior high students, then interning as a high school minister, then finally running a junior high program before coming to Pilgrim. I have a passion for art, music, and culture, and that comes out in my preaching. I want the youth that come out of the programs at Pilgrim to be culture influencers: People who are not afraid to be exactly who they are, and who God planned for them to be, regardless of how counter cultural that might be. Then, I encourage them to take that counter cultural ideology into the world and change it! I believe the message of Christ is good news, that is meant to be shared. I have a passion for being a honest, down to earth follower of Christ, and am always looking for people to share the journey of following Jesus together with me. If you have any questions about the youth programs at Pilgrim, or just want to find out more about the man under the lamp shade, then feel free to call me at my office at 909.622.1373 or email me at mamoncrief@yahoo.com.
